IN PRESS AN IMPORTANT STUDY DONE IN COLLABORATION WITH THE C.I.R.M. RESEARCH DEPARTMENT WITH FORECAST ON THE EVOLUTION OF COVID-19 EPIDEMICS IN ITALY

The Centro Internazionale Radio Medico (C.I.R.M.) Research Department, thanks to the expertise acquired in the field of epidemiology and of the application in this field of artificial intelligence approaches has collaborated to a research entitled “ COVID-19 virus outbreak forecasting of registered and recovered cases after sixty day lockdown in Italy: A data driven model approach ”, which is in press in the Journal of Microbiology, Virology and Infection.
The study, by analyzing the data of the spreading of infection and of recovered cases in Italy in the months of February and March 2020 highlights the positive effects of lockdown and forecasts that a maintenance of the same or, in any case, the implementation of appropriate measures of social distance can lead, by the end of May, to a 35% reduction in infections and a 66% increase in recovered cases.  The development of artificial intelligence systems applied to epidemiology can be useful for the study of the pathologies of seafarers, an epidemiological analysis of which is necessary for implementing appropriate preventive measures
