Quite often, we are experiencing serious difficulties in providing medical assistance to sailing ships in case of diseases or injuries on board due to the lack of basic information that does not allow us to make a prompt diagnosis from which, of course, an adequate treatment should follow.
Of course, the doctor on duty can ask additional details to the ship, but this causes a loss of time and a consequent delay in treating the issue for which it is requested our medical advice.
In view of this, to allow us to guarantee medical assistance of a reasonable quality, it is mandatory that ships that need C.I.R.M. assistance provide all the basic information summarized in the enclosed form as well as the inventory of medicines available on board. The form is a fillable PDF file that can be used directly as an enclosure to the request of medical advice.
The lack of the basic information indicated in the enclosed form will make not possible to provide prompt and adequate assistance . In this case we should reply asking for the missing information and this inevitably will delay handling of the request.
Thank you in advance for your collaboration and understanding.
